Through our new collection of art, ‘I Am You. You Are Me. We Are One – In Lak ‘Ech’, we explore ourselves freely. Sal and I created these works from late 2018 – early 2020. It was a time for us of adventure, expansion, freedom as we’d never know before and love like we’d never experience before. Deep love and acceptance of self, each other and all the individual moments, people and comforts/ discomforts that made up our lives at the time.
Without any defined form in their composition and abundant with colour, we relate each piece to special moments we shared around the time we created them. At the same time we unknowingly celebrated our lives and each other only months before we were to fall pregnant, and in time become the proud (but slightly less time-free) parents we are now.
At this moment, I’m sitting beside a beautiful inland river in NSW. Sal lies before me, sunbaking nude against its lush grassy banks while Azure is asleep in the Van. The sun is shining, the birds sing their songs, and amidst the serenity, I finally feel ready to present this new art to you. Zu is six months old today, and life is starting to feel much more manageable since his birth. That chapter of our lives has now passed, although we hold those memories close to us. Those beautiful experiences of the year past entwined and frozen into each of these pieces.
Sal and I welcome your perceptions behind the titles, tones and vibrations of each piece. From our hearts to yours, this is ‘I Am You. You Are Me. We Are One – In Lak ‘Ech’. We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed our role in their creation.
